With the advent of cloud technologies, rapid advances in connectivity, mobility, and analytics (ML/AI/NLP), and transition to software-as-a-service (SaaS) model, the software industry is going through a fundamental transformation. The success of companies will depend on the successful planning and implementation of this transformation. There have been significant advances in connectivity, mobility, analytics, scalability, and data over last decade, providing many opportunities to solve both legacy and new challenges. In the domain of quality, these opportunities are called Quality 4.0. Quality 4.0 blends new technologies with traditional quality methods to arrive at new optimums in operational excellence, performance, and innovation. This poster presents a general framework to transform legacy QMS for waterfall organizations into a modern Quality 4.0 system for a hybrid development organization. The framework is organized into metrics, measurement, reporting, standardization, analytics, process innovation and automation, and culture and leadership. Details of these areas are presented through a case study at Cisco Systems. Though the case study is specific to Cisco, the general framework and technology used to achieve the transformation may be applicable to similar organizations with a large legacy portfolio.
