Over twenty people were present at PNSQC’s April Meetup to listen to Kathy Iberle give a short presentation on Lean and Agile. The goal is to optimize the processes that we use to turn ideas into products as fast and smoothly as possible. She argued that Lean and Agile are currently the best methodologies to make this happen.
Kathy had a very interesting slide showing the different areas of theory that have contributed to current Agile and Lean practices. The slide shows four different parallel areas of theory and methodology development, queuing theory, Lean methods, plan-driven methods, and Agile methods.
She concluded with a short description of “Improvement Kata”, a structured, iterative process improvement technique. Kathy’s slides are available from her website.
