2021 Call for papers, presentation, and workshops

Call for Proposals Extended to May 1st, 2021!

PNSQC provides industry professionals the opportunity to write and publish papers, deliver presentations, present posters or workshops at its annual conference. Authors and presenters are invited to utilize the PNSQC platform to contribute to the industry body of knowledge, gain notoriety in their field, develop novel ideas and/or develop skills to help them grow in their career.

Contribute Your Expertise and Experience to Our Conference

PNSQC welcomes the following formats of contributed materials for our Annual Conference in October. A Selection Committee evaluates submissions for possible inclusion in the conference’s program.

Because of CVOID-19, PNSQC is unsure if a physical conference will be possible in 2021. Therefore, the 2021 Annual Conference will support virtual formats for all contributed materials. If a physical conference can be held, a hybrid physical-virtual format will be used.

Conference Papers

Conference Papers are peer-reviewed and published in the PNSQC yearly journals and archived on the PNSQC website. In addition, the author is invited to present the paper at the annual PNSQC conference. These papers may focus on current technology, management, emerging technology, or processes. In general, the paper should identify a problem or challenge, how it was solved, or if the issue were not solved, provide any key insights or observations that would be of value to the audience. The following are the general expectations of the authors.

Content:

• The paper subject matter should represent a contribution to the body of knowledge of the software industry.
• The paper may draw upon previous works, direct work experience, data collection and analysis, research, and/or peer consultation.
• Logical development & presentation of the subject should be clear and concise.
• Conclusions and claims are supported by data, and the chain of reasoning by which the conclusion was reached.

Paper Structure:

• The paper should be six to ten pages in length.
• The paper must contain a title page with author names, industry titles, affiliations, and biographies.
• The paper must contain a short abstract, introduction, labeled sections, referenced figures, charts, graphs.
• The paper must contain a summary/ conclusions and industry and any references to the authors earlier works if applicable.

Paper Acceptance and Review

The authors must first submit an abstract that is no more than one-half page in length, for evaluation and approval by the PNSQC. If accepted, PNSQC will assign one or more reviewers to work with the authors to provide suggestions and guidance, as necessary. If there are grammatical, spelling, or clarity issues the PNSQC reviewers may require the authors to have their own reviewers/editors assist them in correcting the issues to ensure the paper adheres to PNSQC standards. Papers must meet all conference deadlines to be made available to attendees prior to the event. All accepted papers will be presented by an author at the annual conference.

Conference Presentation

A Conference Presentation requires an abstract submission and the authors’ biographies / resumes, but does not require a formal paper to be submitted. These presentations focus on current technology, management, or emerging technology or processes. Like that of Conference Papers, Conference Presentations should identify a problem or challenge, how the issue was solved using technology, process, or if the issue were not solved, provide any key insights or observations that would be of value to the audience. The following are the general expectations of the authors.

Content:

• Abstracts should contain a synopsis of the author’s motivation for developing the paper, the problem statement, approach or insights of how to solve the problem, and conclusion.
• The presentation subject matter should represent a contribution to the body of knowledge in the field of software quality.
• Logical development & presentation of the subject should be clear and concise.

Abstract and Presentation Structure:

• The abstract should be no more than 1 page in length.
• The abstract must contain a title page with author names, industry titles, affiliations, and biographies.
• The presentation should identify all authors, their affiliations and must not be used to promote an author’s product or service solutions.

Presentation Acceptance and Review

The authors must first submit an abstract that is no more than one page in length, for evaluation and approval by the PNSQC. If accepted, PNSQC will assign a reviewer to work with the author(s) to provide suggestions and guidance, as necessary. If there are grammatical, spelling, or clarity issues PNSQC reviewers may require the authors to have their own reviewers/editors assist them in correcting the issues to ensure the presentation adheres to PNSQC standards. Presentations must meet all conference deadlines to qualify for a speaking slot at the conference.

Conference Poster

A Conference Poster requires an abstract submission and the authors’ biographies / resumes, but does not require a formal paper to be submitted. A Poster is for members that prefer a more intimate presentation of their subject to individuals. The following are the general expectations of Poster authors.

Content:

• The Poster subject matter should represent a topic related to the field of software development/test/operations preferably with an aspect of software quality.
• The topic and the information should be presented in a clear and concise manner.

Poster Requirements:

• The Poster must contain the authors’ name, industry title, and any affiliations.
• The Poster is not to be used to promote any commercial product or service solution.
• If the conference is held at a physical venue the author will be provided an easel to display their work in one of the common areas at the venue.
• If the conference is held online a multimedia poster space will be provided for the display.

Poster Acceptance and Review

The author must first submit a general description for evaluation and approval by PNSQC. If accepted, PNSQC will assign a reviewer to work with the authors to provide suggestions and guidance, as necessary. If there are grammatical, spelling, or clarity issues, the PNSQC reviewers may require the author to have their own reviewers/editors assist them in correcting any issues prior to the final review. The Poster must meet all conference deadlines to participate in the Conference.

Conference Workshop and Tutorial

Workshops and tutorials allow members to train or dive deep into specialized topics for a longer timeframe than a presentation. PNSQC believes that these events can help members advance their knowledge and skills in a relaxed and collegial environment. Whether it is an individual AMA (ask me anything), panel discussion, training, bug bash, or even a hackathon, PNSQC will provide support, guidance, and the means to promote it within our community and to the public.

Workshop and tutorial  proposals are welcome from individuals, groups, or partners and should be sent to program@pnsqc.org.

Guidelines for proposals:

The proposal should provide an abstract, learning points, and expected time needed to conduct the workshop or tutorial.

The proposal should identify all persons involved, specific topics, approach, and any special needs. Workshops are not to be used to promote the proposer’s product or services; however, they may be sponsored by an outside entity.
