Of all the turns in the road during the software development life cycle, no turn, bend, or trouble-spot has a more profound effect then that of “quality”. It is the essential must-have, ditch-it-first, love-hate ingredient that makes or breaks great software products and their companies. Whether you believe in the DRY or KISS models, the QUALITY model must exist in your software or you will find your success either short-lived, or hopelessly rocky. So then, how do you define what quality actually is? 1“Quality is value to some person.” That quote from Jerry Weinberg gave us a start, but can we be more precise and yet also pragmatic with our definition? This Poster Paper is hoping to make an attempt at that – help me define what quality is and means – in just one word!!
