Meet-up sparks ideas for … more meet-ups!
It was a small gathering—maybe intimate is a better word—at Decarli’s Restaurant in Beaverton, OR, on March 6. But what it may have lacked in numbers it more than made up for in lively discussions about all things PNSQC.
Organized by super volunteer Dwayne Thomas, the meet-up was our group’s first of the new conference season. Board members, volunteers, staffer Terri Moore and the To the Point crew comprised the crowd. Conversations covered such topics as potential abstract topics, how to encourage more folks to submit abstracts, and how to host meet-ups that attract larger crowds. We talked about ways to get the word out more widely through social media, and whether we could generate enough excitement around social gatherings to extent them to lunch-pail sessions and/or sessions in other markets where PNSQC members work.
These discussion sparked lively follow-up email and social media exchanges between PNSQC members centered on future meet-up. We got some nice photos, too. You can see them here. Feel free to share them!
We ask you to join in the conversation. What would entice you to attend a meet-up? What’s important: Location? A speaker? The food? Hour of the day? Your opinion counts at PNSQC! Let board member Bill Baker know—Email Bill at bill@baker88.com.
