State of Oregon, Office of Information Systems, Vendor Management Services
Matt Taylor studied Greek & Latin History & Philosophy, spending a year at the University of Edinburgh and getting his Bachelors from Reed College. His career began in real-estate, where he was responsible for coordinating the development of more than $30m in mixed residential and retail development – also building in-house GIS and custom discounted cash-flow applications for market analysis and project feasibility.
He then spent the next 25 years working his way up through software development organizations. Mostly product development for companies such as BEA and Oracle, but also as a consultant over the years to organisations such as the Office of the State Treasury in Washington, Imperial Capital, DirecTV, Intel, Primavera, Delta Dental & Visa. Beginning his career in hands-on development through team lead roles – with stints in QA and Build Management – then into application and enterprise architecture, and onto development process consulting and tools and into senior product development management positions.
In recent years, he has worked in a senior advisory position to bring release management and vendor-management processes to multiple systems for the State of Oregon; building and implementing a substantial part of the processes of the Office of Information Systems’ new Vendor Management Office.
