Everybody loves to talk about their success stories. But at this year’s PNSQC conference in October, Heather Wilcox will challenge attendees to brag about their biggest failures.
What’s this, a technical session devoted to “fail”??? Yes. In fact, Heather believes it’s vital to air that dirty laundry in order to achieve true progress.
“People like to talk about ‘the failure’ even less than they actually liked failing in the first place,” she says of her topic, “How to Fail at Scrum Without Really Trying.” “However, if we don’t talk about our failures, we don’t learn from them. If we don’t learn from them, then we are essentially guaranteeing that we will repeat those failures at some point in the future. The only thing that could be worse than failing the first time, is failing the second time for all the same reasons.”
Heather will delve into an actual failure of Agile Scrum at a Portland software company to illustrate her point.
If you act quickly, you can be part of this failure experiment, and have access to many more compelling presentations, for a deeply discounted Super Early Bird registration price. But you’ll want to hit the Register NOW! button before July 31 to take advantage of this incredible savings. If you don’t, you may have your own expense account failure story to tell later to someone not nearly so forgiving about your slip-up.
